Description
This is a great early map of Michigan. There is only one settlement shown north of Saginaw and Lansing, the present-day state capital, is not even on the map. Railroads are shown only in the southern portion, highlighted in red largely between Newark and Camden. A table on the left shows routes from Trenton to various cities via canal, stage, steam boat. The table on the right shows population evotion of the state from 1790 to 1840 as well as population growth of counties and towns. Details include topography, rivers, lakes, canals, roads, railroads, towns and cities, distances between towns, etc. The counties are color-coded.
