East Asia, Japan, Meiji period, ca. late 19th to early 20th century CE. A wonderful pair of multi-colored woodblock prints. One presents a Samurai donning a striped robe and head covering set close to the picture plane before a landscape dotted with trees and edifices with a mountain range in the distance. Paired with this is a woodblock featuring a traveler wearing a scarf with several attendants, one on horseback, carrying belongings behind him and a lovely mountain range in the distance. Both are matted and framed. Size: Traveler measures 14.25" L x 9.75" W (36.2 cm x 24.8 cm); 20.25" L x 15.125" W (51.4 cm x 38.4 cm) including framing

Condition
Traveler woodblock shows small paper separation on the upper right corner and overall roughness to edges. Both are in old wood frames, the Traveler of a bamboo style, under glass. Tears to edges of gallery paper on verso of Samurai woodblock.
