New World, USA, ca. late 19th century CE. An elegant, 10 karat gold-plated pocketwatch with engraved floral motifs on both sides of its case. Attached to the case is a long, 12 karat gold woven chain. The watch itself has a face with Roman numbers, and a separate interior dial for seconds. The case serial number is 6014539, stamped on the interior near the hinge. Elgin began creating watches in 1864, at the end of the Civil War, and the company's watches represent a piece of American history that can still be wound and used! Size: 27.75" L (of chain), watch is: 1.65" W x 2.25" H (70.5 cm x 4.2 cm x 5.7 cm)
