Ancient Near East, Anatolia, ca. early 1st millennium BCE. A near-miniature, solid bronze bull, cast via the lost wax (cire perdue) process. The bull presents a substantial body standing on all fours with his tail falling between his posterior legs. A naturalistic dewlap hangs in front of the stocky neck. He faces forward with a resolute countenance comprised of a broad snout, an incised mouth, bulging eyes, and a prominent pair of curved horns projecting from the top of his head. A well-cast bronze bull - a symbol of both virility and fertility! What's more, the surface has developed a gorgeous green patina! Size: 2.125" L x 1.875" H (5.4 cm x 4.8 cm); 2.875" H (7.3 cm) on included custom stand.

Normal surface wear with areas of abrasion commensurate with age. Slight earthen deposits. Beautiful green patina has developed over the years.
