**Originally Listed At $500**
Western Europe, probably England or France, late Medieval period, ca. 12th to 14th century CE. A beautiful head of a saint, hand-carved from a white stone, with a sensitive countenance framed by several radiating coiffure bulbs. The visage presents with ovoid eyes, a slender bar-shaped nose, puffy cheeks, and thick lips curled into a slight smile. Beneath the chin is a rectangular slot, perhaps meant as part of the vestments or a small area for offerings. Size: 6.3" W x 9.7" H (16 cm x 24.6 cm); 10.4" H (26.4 cm) on included custom stand.

Condition
This is a fragment of a larger sculptural carving. Small chips and losses to coiffure, forehead, face, neck base, peripheries, and verso, with abrasions and softening to some finer details, and light encrustations.
