Magna Graecia, South Italic, Campanian, ca. 4th century BCE. A lovely wheel-thrown pottery cup with a flared pedestal foot, a wide basin, tall walls, and a thick rim. One area of the rim is lightly pinched into a narrow pouring spout that suggests the vessel was used for ceremonial or religious purposes. Lustrous jet-black glaze envelops the entire vessel, and areas of light silvery iridescence have developed nicely accentuate this fine example from ancient Campania! Size: 2.4" W x 1.875" H (6.1 cm x 4.8 cm).

Condition
Chips to rim, with fading and abrasions to areas of glaze coloration, and light encrustations. Nice earthen deposits and scattered areas of faint silver iridescence. Old label with cultural information beneath foot.
