Written by Rabbi Yisrael Meir (HaKohen) Kagan (known popularly as the 'Chofetz Chaim'), a key Rabbi of the Musar movement, a Halakhist and Posek, and ethicist; this two volume work deals with the Biblical commandments that are applicable during the Exile, outside the land of Israel, and when the Temple is not in existence. The marbled covered appears contemporary to the book but is probably not the original; the inside pages are complete & fully intact, with mild age toning around their edges; the title page and the rest of the folio are partially loosened from the cover.
