This map shows the state of development in mid-19th century Texas, which was heavily settled in the east and sparsely populated in the west. It includes familiar points of interest, such as Houston, Dallas, and Austin, as well as the old U.S. Mail Route through the American Southwest. There are also inserts of Lake Sabine, Galveston Bay, and the Texas Panhandle.
