Provenance: Property from the Kelton collection.
Notes: Chaplain Robert S. Stubbs was born in England in 1823 and lived to the age of 102. He was a resident of Tacoma, Washington for 30 years. He was referred to as "Chaplain Stubbs" rather than "Reverend" due to his "lifelong work in the cause of sailors as head of the seamen's institutes and missions on both the Atlantic and Pacific seaboards." This painting was presented to Chaplain Stubbs in 1899.

Visual: Generally good condition. Craquelure throughout. Minor surface dirt and grime. The tacking were removed when re-lined.
