George Dick was a wildlife and Western painter and sculptor, sometimes painting in an Impressionist style. Often, he strove to subdue or eliminate the backgrounds of his work. His favorite subjects included cow ponies, quarter horses, racehorses, game, and wild fowl. Dick graduated from Wentworth Military Academy, and in 1939 earned a degree in forestry from the University of Michigan. He then joined the US Wildlife Service, and traveled around the West with a falcon named Margaret. After serving in World War Two, he studied at the University of New Mexico with Kenneth Adams and Randall Davey, and earned an MFA in 1950. He was published in the Saturday Evening Post, New Mexico Stockman, Arizona Highways, and on Christmas cards. He exhibited nationally, and is in Hassrick's Western Painting Today and Ainsworth's Cowboys in Art.
