John Steuart Curry was an American painter, printmaker, illustrator and teacher. Born in Dunavant, Kansas, he studied at numerous art schools in the country and had his first solo exhibition in 1930 at the Whitney Studio Club in New York City. He is considered an American Regionalist, a title shared by the likes of Thomas Hart Benton and Grant Wood.
