Description
"The Clipper" is a marine oil painting by William Paskell (1866-1951) under pseudonym T. Bailey. Several artists associated with the Massachusetts communities around Rockport who painted for the tourist trade during the early to mid-20th century used such pseudonym. During the Great Depression Paskell painted under the name of T. Bailey and H.H. Howe providing him with three chances to obtain clients into various art galleries. Paskell is estimated to have painted close to 1,000 harbor and marine scenes but many of his works are lost / their location are not known. Signed under pseudonym "T. Bailey" on lower right. Painting comes in an American Wood frame. Measurements: Painting is 21" width X 27" height and frame is 25 1/2" width X 31 1/2" height.
Condition
Condition: Good. No signs of repairs under UV light or by physical eye. Some craquelure on front as is typically for older paintings. In nice wood frame.
