Ashcan School oil painting on wood panel. Unsigned, George Benjamin Luks (1867-1933) - "studio or follower of". The painting depicts a portrait of a male gentleman in a bowler hat, c.1900. There appears to be a large faint silhouette of a woman behind the man. The reverse side depicts two small studies: a landscape and a cityscape, measuring 4.25" x 5.25" and 5" x 3.25", with a faint inscription beneath the landscape, "Tarrytown" (New York). The wood panel measures 14" x 10-7/8". Housed in a gilt wood frame with wood plaque "G. Luks", 20" x 16.75" x 2" deep.
