Jayne Mansfield's Personally Owned Blue & White Sleeveless Belted Dress Acquired From Jayne Mansfield Estate Sale W/Original Sale Tag & Copy of Receipt - This blue and white sleeveless day dress was personally owned by iconic American film, theater, and television actress, Jayne Mansfield. Mansfield was the epitome of extravagance and decadence, known for her bigger than life personality. She was also a nightclub entertainer, singer and one of the early Playboy Playmates, and was one of the bright shining stars of the 1950s next to Marilyn Monroe. Although her career was considered short-lived, she had several box office successes, won a Theatre World Award and a Golden Globe, and remains one of the most recognizable icons of 1950s celebrity culture. The dress has a zip back design with a matching belt, ribbed bodice and striped skirt. It was acquired from the Jayne Mansfield Estate Auction by Berden Art & Auction Gallery in March, 1969, and will come with the original lot tag along with a copy of the handwritten receipt and announcement for the public sale.
