Jos. Triner's Angelica Bitter Tonic
First quarter of the 20th Century.
The lithograph advertising poster in multiple colors with metallic highlights for Jos. Triner's Angelica Bitter Tonic, published by American Lithographic Co. New York and Chicago.
The graphics in Art Nouveau taste depict a maiden with flowers in her hair attending to a convalescent along with the bottled product pictured within a frame of flowing angelica flowers and foliage, lettered below the image lower left Copyright 1907 by Joseph Triner Chicago, signed in the image and dated 1907.
Mucha created these small posters and or calendar tops during his during his stay in America between 1904-1912 teaching and lecturing at the Chicago Art Institute. Josef Triner, an influential Czech expatriate and politician commissioned two different illustrations for his 'wine' elixir. Both are considered quite rare today, this being the most difficult to find.
Retains the label from exhibition in the US museum tour of Alphonse Mucha: The Spirit of Art Nouveau, organized by Art Services International, 1998 - 2000.
Image size 13.75 x 12, sheet measures 14.75 x 13.25, the frame is 21.25 x 19.25 inches.
Provenance: The Estate of Robert Allan Haas. Included in the US museum tour of Alphonse Mucha: The Spirit of Art Nouveau, organized by Art Services International, 1998 - 2000.

Condition
Good condition, noting scattered creases, edge tears, edge chips and paper losses at the extreme outer edges as shown lit from behind, this print has been backed with archival paper and missing portions filled by a professional conservator.
