A JAPANESE GILT AND POLYCHROME LACQUERED HEXAGONAL BOX, EARLY 20TH CENTURY, the hinged lid depicting an elegant three story pavilion amidst ancient pines along the banks of a meandering river, traversed by plank board foot bridges detailed in lightly contrasting gilt and silvered tones, above conforming sides and front centering a pressed copper fan shaped escutcheon, opening to a thinly painted dark claret interior and stamped "MADE IN JAPAN." Condition
