Total of 130 photos, including: 48 photos (on 4 sheets) of THE FIRST INDIANAPOLIS 500, MAY 30, 1911, INCLUDING PHOTOS SHOWING THE CAR WHICH FIRST INTRODUCED THE REAR-VIEW MIRROR (contributing to Ray Harroun's win); 81 photos (on 6 sheets) covering the Vanderbilt Cup races in 1908 and 1910; and 1 loose photo of people in the stands. Many photos of interest are present, including Robert Burman in his Blitzen Benz (which set a record the day before the race. **************** An important collection of racing photographs, being publisher's positives mounted on sheets (each photo with inventory number), several sheets stamped property of Underwood and Underwood. The publisher used the negatives to create stereo views, but these sheets helped them to identify the correct negatives to use in creating the stereo views. Most photos measure approx. 5" x 4". Most are in good condition, though the sheets upon which they are mounted do exhibit toning and chipping.
