Description
(1887 - 1941) Reichsminister of Church Affairs, and Minister of Justice in Prussia who forbade Jewish lawyers from practicing and declared Adolf Hitler to be the "Holy Ghost". Fine association and content A.L.S. on his official letterhead, 3pp. 4to., Charlottenburg, Apr. 4, 1939 to MARTIN BORMANN (1900-1945?), Head of the Nazi Party Chancellery and private secretary to Adolf Hitler, by the end of World War II second only to Hitler himself in terms of real political power, and who dockets and initials the letter at top. Kerrl sends Bormann a book, regrettably not present, which he asks be give to Hitler. In part: "...May I beg you to deliver to the Fuhrer this letter and the added book. It is for me very very important. You may give him the book...because it is not an official decision...I am sure that the Fuhrer would like to read the clever book, as soon as he has taken notice of my letter. I have written Hitler in the letter, that I beg him for a discussion if he thinks it necessary...this affair was settled by a consultation..." At top, Bormann scribbles an acknowledgment that he has done as requested and initials the letter in orange indelible pencil. File holes, else fine.
