The Whittler 1940s Wood Carving Set Toy by Ideal Models

Item Details

Description

The Whittler is a wood carving set made by Ideal Aeroplane and Supply Co. Inc. of New York. The set is not dated but appears to be from the 1940s. The set includes blocks of balsa wood and instructions for carving items such as a General MacArthur plaque, American eagle letter opener, and character figures. The six figures include a cowboy, soldier, sailor, Mountie, pilot and Marine. The set also includes powdered paints to mix with water for coloring the figures, and round wooden bases to stand them on. No tools are included. A cool World War II era toy!

Condition

The block of wood for making the Scottie dog is missing, and some of the powdered colors may be missing as well. The figures have some damage and the box has wear.
