Description
This lot of three antique doll heads includes two that are bisque, and one metal head. The larger of the two bisque socket heads measures about 4” (10.2 cm) from top to bottom. She has blue sleep eyes and pierced ears, and an open mouth with four teeth. She is incised “Germany HEINRICH HANDWERCK SIMON HALBIG 0 ½.” The smaller bisque head has gray sleep eyes that are a little loose. She is incised 1902 9/0. She has an open mouth with five teeth. The metal head is embossed MINERVA on the front of the shoulder plate, and GERMANY on the back. She has blue stationary eyes, an open mouth, and a mohair wig. She measures 3 ¼” (8.3 cm) across the shoulder at the widest part.
Condition
The Simon Halbig head has no chips or cracks. It is missing part of the plaster that holds the eyes in, but they work fine. She has a few small rubs. The 1902 head has a hairline across the top of the forehead, her eyes work but are a little loose. The Minerva head is missing her teeth. Her paint is original, and has some crazing but very little chipping. Her wig is sparse and dirty.
