“Lincoln’s fondness for certain poems, the relations among Lincoln’s inner circle (including Mary Todd), behavioral aspects of cabinet members, seemingly endless crowds of favor seekers crowding the Executive Mansion hallways, and Lincoln’s own recollection of his decision to emancipate the salves”
