Engraved map on 15 sheets, each backed with linen and sectioned for folding, set in original two-part box with leather label. Sheet sizes vary, overall approx. 221x160 cm (87x63").

Large scale may of Saxony, in present Germany. Warren Heckrotte, from whose collection this came, notes "Tooley identifies Petri as a military cartographer. Hayne in élémens de Topographie Militaire, 1806, pp. 283, 284, cites this map as an excellent map of Saxony, which can serve usefully the military cartographer. Each sheet numbered on the back, with the locale handwritten in ink.

Condition

Some wear to box; maps with some wear at folds with occasional splits; still very good overall.
