An album containing 47 [printed] photographs from the Konzentrationslager Mauthausen concentration camp, some taken from Nazi sources during the years of operation of the camp, and some were taken by American forces in the month in which the camp was released. Beginning in 1941, the trend changed and the Nazis began to imprison many Jews, mainly from the Czech and Dutch communities. 38,000 Jews were murdered in the camp, most of whom died from forced labor. The camp was liberated in May 1945 and was one of the last to be liberated by the United States Army.
