Condition
A beautiful pair in very good condition; no issues noted other than some light surface wear consistent
with age and use. No dents, breaks or repairs. Weighty, with nice detail and engraved arms (the latter
unusual in that it bears two escutcheons of pretence, indicating that the bearer was married to two
different heiresses). Each hallmarked (on the basal edge) with: 1) the sterling lion passant; 2) the London
crowned leopard's head; 3) the date letter "T" for 1814-1815; 4) the George IV bust duty mark; and 5) the
"W.E" maker's mark of William Eaton. Lids identically part-marked (on the sleeve) with the lion passant,
date letter and maker's mark. Marks nice and crisp. A superlative pair.
