A matching pair of sauce tureens, the covers with urn form finial having a beaded edge, the navette form of the cover with radiating palmettes, conforming navette form tureens with high handles, beaded rim, sloping shoulder, pronounced beading, upward rising palmettes, raised on a pedestal with beaded rim on oval foot. engraved family arms and crest, London hallmarks for 1778, the maker's mark of John Wakelin & William Taylor.
