Condition
In overall good condition. The first example after Chantrey is a relief bust of George III not William IV
as stated in the printed catalogue. The bust has a few dings, pits and surface scratches; the smaller relief
bust of William IV has heavy groves (gouges) en verso and scattered losses to back corners and edges,
which is suggestive of having been previously mounted on another element or edifice; the terracotta seal
has a chip to its lower edge; on the collection of plaster seals, one has a spiderweb-form hairline crack to
its face, and a few others have small chips to their edges. All bronze examples exhibit minor surface
scratches, nicks, accretions and oxidation. All terracotta and plaster examples (minus Queen Victoria)
exhibit light scratches, nicks and soiling.
