Fabulous, Chinese Ming Dynasty Period, Xuande bronze censer. Chinese Bronze censer cast in a slightly compressed globular form, round flat opening mouth rim, potted thick, study body, straight tall to the neck, raised with flat round base rim. The exterior carved with snarling huge imperial five claws dragon careening through cumulus clouds above thrashing Li-Shui waves in a dark brown color dragon squama rounded the bowl to chasing flaming pearl amidst flames. Dragon is the symbol of the Emperor, the Son of Heaven, eternity, Yang and Yin, male vigor and fecundity, the Li-Shui wave pattern which is known to be the abode of dragons. Century antique Chinese Ming Dynasty bronze censer, cast in compressed globular form, short neck to flat open wide rim, raised on three conical short legs, with two loop handles vertically everted on upper lip. The metal patinated to a warm olive-brown tone and some milky blue-green encrustation on interior. The bronze is bright and lustrous as the light is easily reflected from the well-polished surfaces. Over all in EXCELLENT condition. With normal anomalies in nature, sign of stressed surface, minor scratch & dents. Surface traced wear and or declined to gilding. Normal, consider ages and wear.
