United States. "Metropolitan Magazine." January Special Holiday Number vintage poster. 1905. Published in New York City. An original illustrated poster with a wonderful depiction of a lady donning her winter best and holding a pair of snow shoes - the graphic in bold orange, black, and white. Later known as "Macfadden's Fiction Lover's Magazine", "Metropolitan Magazine" was a monthly periodical that featured articles about literature and politics. It originated in 1895 as a magazine for Manhattan theater enthusiasts. The holiday issue that this poster advertised included Joel Chandler Harris' Southern folktale "Brer Rabbit" illustrated by A.B. Frost (Arthur Burdett Frost, American, 1851-1928), regarded as one of the master illustrators in the Golden Age of American Illustration, an article entitled, "The Stage in 1905" by James Huneker, and more. Size: 22.125" L x 14" W (56.2 cm x 35.6 cm)
