Description
Circa 1870, Edgefield, South Carolina attributed to J.P. Bodie. The lidded jar having a nicely potted form with rich green glaze. It bears paint decoration of the early 20th century. Some crazing to glaze and a tight hairline at rim and backside lower mid body. Very original as found condition with greasy surface. H8 1/4" This piece was recently discovered in an outbuilding in Grey Court, South Carolina. The family property dates back to the early 20th century and several buildings predate that.
