Description
Description: Evocative original oil painting by artist Joseph William Dawley (b 1936). Entitled, "The Piggy Bank," the painting lovingly depicts an older gentleman sharing the art of decorating a piggy bank with his young companion. Joseph Dawley became well-known in the 1960s and 70s for his realistic character studies and landscapes. In 1975, he was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease, and his style became much looser, more colorful, and impressionistic. After surgery and much recovery time, he found he had lost his fine motor skills needed to paint realism as he had. He taught himself impressionism and was very successful at it. He has appeared on all three major networks - ABC, NBC, and CBS - and was featured in "Life" magazine in June 1993. By invitation, he also has designed Christmas cards for the White House. Signature may be obscured under matting. Artist and title listed on reverse side of frame. Carved wood frame. Material: wood; canvas. Measurement: approximate 26" x 31' in frame/ image 20" x 23.5" (INCHES). Shipping cost: $100.00. Different rate to California, Alaska & Hawaii.
