This original Civil War Era, French Military Model 1840 Percussion Musket has a 40.5", .69 caliber smooth-bore barrel. These Muskets were imported by both the Union North and the Confederate South during the American Civil War. All steel furniture. Back-action percussion lock. The stock is solid with light scratches and dings from years of actual handling. A nice example in that is in good mechanical working order. Note: This Musket was previously acquired in the 20th century by MGM Motion Picture Studios, Hollywood to be used as a movie prop, it has "MGM" stamped on barrel just forward of rear sight.
