Description
William Young, Dundee (Scottish, active 1805-1843), first quarter 19th century. Mahogany inlaid longcase or grandfather clock, having a scrolled broken pediment with brass rosettes and supported by fluted columns, the trunk with solid case door flanked by fluted quarter pilasters, base rising on low bracket feet. The face having a lunette decorated with three figures in masonic regalia including aprons with Georgian buildings beyond, the spandrels with allegorical representations of Europe, America, Africa and Asia, the dial with Roman and second hand sweeping Arabic numerals. Signed to face WillM Young/Dundee. Approx. h. 95", w. 22.75", d. 13".

Previous winding holes filled over; some darkening to face; finial not present to hood; wear to case commensurate with age and use.
