[4], xl, 293; [4], 314; [2], xi, [1], 331; [2], 322 pp. + 28 engraved plates (complete.) Period speckled calf, 3 volumes with cracked hinges, one gutter with old cloth repair and a few other front/rear gutters with very discreet tissue repairs, some light chipping to spine ends, contents with occasional light foxing or minor spots/stains, leaves near front and rear with some edge-toning, mostly quite clean, final volume with rear blank removed. Good+. *************************** A nice set of this classic work, finely illustrated with copper plates. This is the fourth edition of the 1755 translation by Tobias Smollett. ** PROVENANCE: Titles with period signature of James Morgan Jr., dated 1775; Frederick von Baumbach (Secretary of State for Minnesota) with his small label to pastedowns; donated by Baumbach to the Alexandria Free Public Library, 1918, with their labels to front free endpapers.
