Description
Han Dynasty, 206 BC-220 AD or later. A bronze two-edged sword with scooped midrib to the tongue-shaped blade, taotie (?) mask to the lower guard, columnar grip with tiered pommel; silver-inlaid script and amuletic ornament to both faces of the blade. 680 grams, 62.5cm (24 1/2"). From a private Austrian collection; acquired from Dawson's, London, 23rd February 2019, lot 250; previously in a private collection. [No Reserve]
