Dated 1598 AD or later. A ceramic salt-glazed jug with tiered base, drum-shaped body and domed shoulder, broad neck with pouring lip to the mouth; band of foliage and heraldic panels with supporters to the middle, with Low German text 'dit is ein kvnst die kvmpt avsz got - tes gvnst wer die kvnst noch so schon so mossen sei sich ceefen zv den dot' (this is an art which comes from God - this favour whoever yet so fine an art must be [...] to the death), dated 1598.
