A rather outstanding antique wall plate or center bowl, an elaborate Middle Eastern 19th century example of strong craftsmanship as a pierced steel and inlaid multi mixed metal example.This is a calligraphic inlaid steel charger, blued steel on reverse, the frontis of exceptional inlaid mixed metalwork of silver and two color gold on a blued silver ground. Hand cut wide border, the rim of applied copper grape relief. Centrally is likely religious verse, that inset inlay or surface gilding of yellow and red gold in bold Kufic script. Fine original condition, fairly large, 1.75" high x 16" across.
