Description
Signed Fernando García Ponce studied architecture in the UNAM and painting in the workshop of the Valencian Enrique Climent. It realized its first individual exhibition in the Gallery of Mexican Art in 1956, later with a series of collages it became creditor to an honorable mention in the Salon of the Mexican Plastic. In 1960, he exhibited his work "No. 1", which is considered the watershed of his abstract work. Shortly after he returned to exhibit in the Gallery of Mexican Art and in the Collective of Contemporary Painting of Mexico and South America. Likewise, the sixties identify with the birth of the movement of the Rupture, of which García Ponce was a predominant painter. "I chose abstraction because I consider that color and form are enough to make painting ... I am increasingly firm in my choice to eliminate everything figurative, more comfortable to express all kinds of ideas, feelings, feelings, emotions, memories and even to protest against a situation that I disagree with.
