I part I and Volume II part I and volume III, part I are the only volumes to have half titles, as called for.
Volume I parts I and II were published in 1712 with all other volumes from 1707. Complete in six volumes.
The History of the Rebellion was the first detailed work on the Civil War and its importance remains due to the author being a key player in the events that unfold. As Hyde was a Royalist, his own strategy was prominent in this History.

In full calf bindings. Externally, rubbed, to the spines, boards and extremities. Spines are the most rubbed with small losses to the head and tail of most spines as well as to small portions of the back strip.

Front hinge and joint to volume I part I has failed with the board detached but present. Front endpaper to volume I part I is detached but present. Rear joint and hinge to vol I part I are tender with cords showing. Front hinge and joint to vol I part II has failed with the board detached but present. Rear hinge to volume I part II is tender with cords showing. Front hinge and joint to volume II part I have failed with the board and front end paper detached but present. Rear hinge to volume II part I is slightly strained but firm. Front hinge and joint to volume II part II are weak and held by one cord only, may detach with further handling. Rear hinge to vol II part II is slightly strained but firm. Front hinge to volume III part II is weak and held by one cord only, may detach with further handling. Rear joint and hinge to volume III part II is weak, held by one cord only, and may detach with further handling. Front joint and hinge to volume III part I is weak and held by one cord only. Rear hinge to volume III part I has failed with board detached but present. Internally, all volumes are firmly bound. Pages are slightly age toned to edges with light scattered spotting throughout all volumes, heavier to the first and last few pages. Repair to two leaves of the index to volume III part II at the gutter resulting in a small loss to a few words. 7.5" by 5"
