Jean Despujols (1886-1965, French, Louisiana), "Ady," oil on canvas laid to panel, signed lower right, depicting his German girlfriend when he travelled in Germany before WWI. He drew a sketch of her in his war drawings and wrote a poem in French, unframed, H.- 13 3/8 in., W.- 7 3/4 in. Note: The Meadows Museum at Centenary College in Shreveport has a large collection of his works.
