Image size 13 3/4 x 9 1/2" (34.5 x 24 cm). Paper size 15 x 10 5/8".
Condition: Very good condition and color.

George Biddle (1885-1973) painter, lithographer, teacher and writer; born in Philadelphia. Studied Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts. Biddle was a member of "The Painter-Gravers of America," formed in 1915 along with fellow artists Childe Hassam, George Bellows, Boardman Robinson, Ernest D. Roth, George Elmer Brown, and Leo Meilziner. After 1917, Biddle formed a friendship with Mary Cassatt. Mary introduced George to her niece Ellen Mary Casset. Biddle fell in love with Ellen and drew her portrait on stone.
