Pre-Columbian, North Coast Peru, Chimu/Inca culture, ca. 1100 to 1400 CE. A fine set of 2 bowls shaped from gourds of two different varieties, each with a round but stable base. The smaller bowl has tall walls, a thin rim, and a deep basin, with a repeating register of enclosed diamonds pyro-engraved onto the exterior shoulder. The larger bowl has a thick rim with a shallow basin as well as an intricate register of abstract geometric motifs. Size of largest (short walls): 5.3" W x 1.75" H (13.5 cm x 4.4 cm).

Both bowls have minor nicks to rims and bases, fading to some pyro-engraved motifs, and roughness to interior basins, otherwise intact and very good. Light earthen deposits within basin, and nice patina along exterior.
