Description
**Originally Listed At $200**
Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Jalisco, ca. 300 BCE to 300 CE. A wonderful duo of hand-built terracotta red-slipped female figures. The standing figure displays attenuated limbs, a broad chest and globular breasts, with one arm supporting a large bowl on one shoulder. The seated female rests with one leg folded beneath the other, one arm resting on a distended abdomen, the other supporting a petite bowl on one shoulder. Both figures exhibit classic "sheepface" visages with such features as projecting noses, pointed ears with round earspools, and tall foreheads with thin headbands. White-painted details embellish each figure, and both are wonderful examples of ancient shaft-tomb pottery! Size of largest (seated): 5.5" H (14 cm).
