Blue silk brocade ground embroidered with butterflies, flowers, grapes, melons, bowls of citrons, trimmed with dark blue silk embroidered with butterflies and flowers, the ivory silk sleeve bands embroidered with scenes of figures in gardens in the "forbidden stitch", embroidery on the body of the robe mostly satin stitch. Two silver buttons remaining. Pale blue silk lining. Qing dynasty, probably 19th C. Very good condition; some fraying at the edges of the silk lining fabric, which is moth-wing fine. Some loss of ribbon trim at small area of collar. Approx. 42 " long, approx. 46" measured straight across shoulders from cuff to cuff.
