Description
A 1949 cubist casein on board painting by Howard Mandel titled "Masque Au Plage" or "Masquerade on the Beach". This work depicts a pair of women seated on the beach in the foreground. In the background are a variety of figures, including a pair of nuns walking along the shore, a pair of figures dressed as cows, and a young boy dressed as a pirate. It is signed and dated on the lower right and presented in a gold-tone metal frame with a wire on the verso for hanging. There is a label affixed to the verso with additional information on the piece.
