Description
The cup of deep rounded form on a short spreading foot, the sides carved and pierced with coiled chilong handles. The jade a transluscent celadon tone with a nice polish. 3.25" W. For a nearly identical cup, see Christie's Fine Chinese Ceramics and Works of Art sale November 3, 2009, lot #105. Provenance: Duk Soo Palace, Seoul Korea 1951. Estate of Lionel Hayes, a sargent in the 10th Marine Division during the Korean War, when the Marines stormed the Duk Soo Palace and smashed the 100,000-man Red Invasion Army.
