Description
A fine armor wrought in steel with contrasting brass rivets. The helmet with high comb and characteristic visor and bevor sharing a pivot and secured to the skull with a hook. The visor set with oblique ocularia, the bevor pierced for ventilation at each side, the neck lames with rolled and roped borders. Breastplate with central ridge, rolled and roped borders at the neck and arm gussets and flanged at the waist, the backplate likewise rolled and roped at neck and arm gussets. With complete arm defenses, pauldrons articulated, the upper canons with rolled ridge, the rounded elbow cops with large couters, vambraces rolled at the cuff. The gauntlets well-articulated, with pointed cuffs, and fingers intact (small finger on right gauntlet lacking.) Each tasset wrought from a single plate with cusped tip, with central panel of chain mail. The cuisses likewise wrought of a single plate with central ridge and rolled and roped borders, the poleyns en suite with the couters. The greaves well-modelled, with central ridge to the obverse and multi-lamed sabatons. Second half of the 19th century. Minor wear and age darkening, some straps worn. Stand not included. Overall height 168cm. Condition II
