Description
Black Opal glaze vase with weeping cherry tree, blooming magnolias and a whimsical bird set against a mottled gray ground, the work of Arthur Conant in 1920. Marks include the Rookwood logo, date, shape 932D and the artist’s incised monogram. This is a Black Opal variant (perhaps Dove Gray) as the gray glaze typically found on the underside is not present. Uncrazed and nicely executed. Height is 9 3/8 inches.
