Title: Large Green Spanish Abstract, Colourful 1960's Abstract Oil Painting, Original c.1960s Description: Large Green Abstract, Colourful Stylised Oil Painting, Original By Spanish artist ENRIC CROUS-VIDAL (1908-1987) Signed on the top right hand corner, Oil painting on board, unframed Board size: 25.5 x 20 inches Fabulous large abstract, by the Spanish painter, ENRIC CROUS-VIDAL (1908-1987). This stylised oil painting is quite striking, showing a tree like object central to the painting, however it could be a lighting fork or an expressive painting of something scientific or something sentimental to the artist - we will never know. This is a vibrant green painting, to hang in a hallway or large eclectic living area. Painted with a coarse texture and wonderful precision, it is a marvellous work of 20th century art. In his birthplace he promoted the edition of the art magazine Art. During the Spanish civil war (1936–1939) he emigrated to France. He started working in Paris for Draeger Frères. Later he becomes the Art Director of Fonderie Typographique Française. For this foundry he designed Ilerda (1945), Les Catalanes (1952), Flash (1953), Paris (1953) and Arabescos (1954). He was the founder of the movement “GrafÃa Latina”, defending the need to create a new system of typographic structures and new graphics, alphabets and decorative ornaments, which reflect the Latin genius, in contrast to the rigidity of German typography, which finds its inspiration in geometric lines. Of special note are his lectures and articles of 1950, 1952 and 1954, the exhibition of his creations in the Galerie dÂ’Orsay, Paris in 1952. His principles have been strongly supported by École Estienne and by Maximilien Vox, founder of École de Lure. Condition report: The painting and board are both in a very pleasing condition.
