Description
German World War II Luftwaffe Ehrenpokal Honor Goblet. Awarded to a ‘Oberleutnant BODO MAYERHOFFER’ on ’16.7.42’. The one side shows a pair of eagles attacking each other. The other side shows a German WWII 1939 Iron Cross. The engraving below the Iron Cross reads. Measures 8.5” tall by 3.75” in diameter at the base. The bottom is marked "Feinsilber Alpaka Auflage" "John Wagner & Sohn". The base is hand engraved ‘OBERLEUTNANT BODO MAYERHOFFER AM 16.7.42’. Mayerhoffer was a pilot and the commander of the 5th Staffel, 2nd Group, 590th Viking Unit. He is specifically mentioned in the german print book "German Bombers over England" This was awarded to him for outstanding achievement in the air war. Excellent.
