Description
A large silver ring likely commissioned by a recipient of the "Ehrenpokal der Luftwaffe" (Honor Goblet of the Luftwaffe). This Luftwaffe award was established on 27 February 1940 by Reichsmarschall Hermann Göring and presented to pilots and air crew "For Special Achievement in the Air War" (für Besondere Leistung im Luftkrieg). The ring symbolically recreates design elements from the Ehrenpokal goblet, specifically two entwined, warring eagles. The head of the ring consists of the heads of two eagles with beaks toward a central post with a small Balas ruby (spinel). The shank of the ring is formed by one wing of each eagle on either side. The ring is size 9-3/4, weighs 21 grams, and bears the "925" silver mark on the inside of the shank under one shoulder. The ring is in good to very good condition. All design elements are clear, crisp, and clean. The eagle feathers of the heads and wings are highly detailed. This lot has a set reserve. This lot has a reserve.
